        1. - The object of Train Tablet working is to prevent more than one train being between any two Tablet stations at the same time, and, when no train is in the section between two Tablet Stations, to admit of a train being started from either end. This is accomplished by every train carrying a Tablet, one Tablet only being obtainable from the Tablet Instruments of the same section at the same time.

TABLET TO BE CARRIED WITH EACH TRAIN
        2. - A Tablet must be carried with each train, and no train must leave any Tablet Station, except as provided in clauses 9, 10, 11, 21, and 23, unless the Driver is in possession of a Tablet for that section of the Line over which it is about to travel. Each Tablet has engraved or marked on it the names of the Tablet Stations at each end of the section to which it applies.

BELL OR GONG SIGNALS
Is Line Clear for Stopping Goods or Mineral Train? 3 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Is Line Clear for Passenger, Break-Down Van, or Empty Carriage Train? 4 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Is Line Clear for Cattle, Express Goods, Through Goods, Mineral or Ballast Train, or Light Engine? 5 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Is Line Clear for Ballast Train requiring to stop in section? 3 pause 3 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Short Distance Signal 3 beats of the Bell or Gong given twice.
Train entering Section 2 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Train out of Section, or Obstruction Removed 1 beat, pause, 2 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Obstruction Danger Signal 6 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Stop and Examine Train 7 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Signal given in Error, Train last Signalled not coming 8 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Train passed without Tail Lamp 9 beats of the Bell or Gong.to Tablet Station in advance.
4 pause 5 beats of the Bell or Gong to Tablet Station in rear.
Train Divided 10 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Shunt Train for following Train to pass 11 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Train or Vehicles running away 12 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Section Clear and Station or Junction Blocked 13 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Opening of Tablet Station 15 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Testing Bell or Gong Signal 16 beats of the Bell or Gong.
Closing of Tablet Station 17 beats of the Bell or Gong.
