The restoration of vintage locomotives and rolling stock is a significant part of the Railway's activities. This page reviews some of the major projects completed over the years.
Slough Estates No 3 This Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST is the property of the Slough &: Windsor Railway Society, who have moved their standard-gauge preservation activities to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. While much work on Slough Estates was done at Stoke Poges, restoration was completed in the Hayes Knoll shed. Slough Estates was delivered new to the Slough Trading Co Ltd by Hudswell Clarke in October 1924.

Fowler 0-4-0 DM shunter FB7342 was built in 1958, and worked at Swindon's Pressed Steel car body plant.
In 1980 it came to the Swindon & Cricklade railway on loan, and was subsequently purchased. Here it is at Hayes Knoll, after an extensive mechanical and electrical overhaul and external restoration

Fowler 0-4-0 DM shunter 21442 Woodbine has now been completely restored, both mechanically and externally. Woodbine was built in 1933, and worked at WD&HO Wills' Swindon factory. It was registered with the GWR in 1941 (as No 211) so as to be allowed to work into their sidings. Woodbine was presented to the Railway when Wills' closed their factory in 1980. External restoration follows photographs of the locomotive at Wills.
